Monday Blues

Well, I suck on Mondays. After putting in my 6 miler on Friday, I felt so good about myself that I took the weekend off and did some stuff around the house with Stac. We are trying to move the kids area into the basement so there was some weak mind/strong back work that she had me do. I woke up this a.m. at 4:45 and spent about 10-15 minutes trying to keep my eyes open. I finally rolled out of bed got my wind pants and sweatshirt on and hit the road. Immediately, I noticed that this was going to be a tough run for me this morning. I put in 2.8 miles in 26'23" (9'21" pace) and finished feeling like I was going to die. This was a hill run for me, so I knew it would be hard, but this was ridiculous. When I finished, I noticed that my right calf was starting to get sore (I felt this a little be this weekend, but shrugged it off). It started to feel better throughout the day so I think it is just soreness.

Anyway, when I got home from work, after being so discouraged about this morning, I decided to go get another run in. So I just got back from another 2.8 miler but this time, I ran it in 23'14" (8'18" pace). As soon as I finished, my right calf started to flare up again, so I'll probably rest for sure tomorrow. But, my latest 2.8 helped me shake the blues from this morning. I suppose it helped that for my evening run, it was 65F instead of 34F like it was this morning. There is a big difference in running in cold conditions vs. warm ones. That much I am discovering for sure.

Well, enough blabbering. Here's the totals:

Totals:
Running
D: 5.6m
W: 5.6m
M: 21.8m
Y: 46m
Biking
D: 0
W: 0
M: 0m
Y: 8m

By the way, I'll keep you posted on the calf...

Tapping Ductile
When treating ductile iron, the first transfer (from the furnace to the tundish ladle) is where magnesium is introduced to the molten iron. As the magnesium is enveloped by the iron, it burns white hot.
