Well, the time thing from last week turned into a desire thing this weekend and is creeping into this week. After a late return from the Carolinas Friday night (after midnight), I decided to relax Saturday and push the "long" run into Sunday. Sunday came and no urge even snuck up on me to run, so I bagged it as well. Monday night, my after bible study run was replaced with a foundry meeting in B'ham which led to a late bedtime and another missed run this morning. So......other than fighting the feeling to get really put out with my commitment, it is starting to hit home that this is not going to be an easy endeavor. Running 26.2 miles is likely going to take more discipline than anything I've ever done in my life. I am faced today with challenge of how I am going to react to that realization. After lots of success with early training, the last two weeks have blown up on me...The training plan is thrown, which is not a really big deal since I have not picked a race yet...but it was just not expected.
So. I have moved everything back by two weeks. This puts the training plan getting me ready for a marathon by Christmas week. My goal will be to maintain the training from then until a I pick a race. Looks like Grube and I are trying to find one to do together at this point. We'll see.

While we know Ecclesiastes 9:11 by experience, we must live by faith in the truth of 2 Chronicles 20:15.
ReplyDeleteI have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all. - Ecclesiastes 9:11
Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. - 2 Chronicles 20:15
p.s. That word of encouragement was given to Jahaziel, son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph. But all his friends just called him Tater.
